This quaint 18th-century cottage in the popular village of Charmouth is the ideal coastal retreat for families and friends looking to explore the stunning county of Dorset and its World Heritage Coast.

As you approach this property, which can be found halfway up a steep lane that leads to a National Trust nature reserve, with excellent views across Lyme Bay, you will notice its quaint exterior nestled comfortably between the other properties. With its 18th-century charm, convenient village location and less than a mile from the beach, it is a great place for a family holiday. Not only have you got the fossil-hunting beach of Charmouth on your doorstep, you also have the seaside town of Lyme Regis (3.5 miles) close by and the rest of the Jurassic Coast and Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to explore.

As you enter the cottage, you’ll find yourself in the cosy lounge with original features such as exposed beams and Victorian fireplace. The open fire is perfect for snuggling up in front of on a chilly evening with a mug of hot chocolate and a good book. Going through into the kitchen/diner, you will find it is light and airy with all the mod cons you’ll need to conjure up a tasty breakfast or scrumptious dinner. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, both with pine floors and furniture. One has a king-size bed and glimpses towards the sea, the other has twin beds. Both bedrooms have quirky shelves and cupboards built-in to make use of the unusual lines of the old building. The shower room, also on the first floor, is well-lit and has a shower and WC.

Outside, there is a south-facing courtyard to the front with furniture allowing you to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine in the Dorset sunshine. There is parking available on the lane.

A delightful, peaceful gem of a place in a very good location within easy reach of coast and delightful Lyme Regis and Bridport. Perfect antidote to reality.

A delightful, well-equipped cottage with all the home comforts and charming open fire. Great location within walking distance of the local shops, pubs and eateries and also the beach. Just off the A35 means easy to get to the other local beaches and villages but means the village itself is nice and quiet. A lovely place to stay.

Wonderful cottage with everything you could possibly need. Perfect for the beach and exploring the stunning coastline & countryside. It was lovely to start each day with a coffee sitting in the sunshine on the bench in the garden.

Thimble cottage is perfectly appointed. Lovely log fire and wonderful sea view from the double bedroom and country views from the small bedroom. Charmouth is a delight and there are opportunities for many fantastic walks locally.

A well equipped and very comfortable cottage. Good Wifi. Lots of DVDs and games. The cottage is situated up a steep hill and the small patio garden could pose a problem for anyone with mobility difficulties . Other than that we thought it was just perfect.
