Blandford Forum is found in North Dorset deep in the picturesque countryside on the banks of the River Stour. The village was burned down in 1731 but was completely rebuilt in the years to follow by two brothers, so the town is full of beautiful Georgian architecture. Today, the town has some lovely shops, cafés and restaurants so you can spend some enjoyable time here soaking up the delightful atmosphere.

The town has a long proud history of having a fortnightly market at the Corn Exchange and doors are open from 6.30am until 4.30pm every other Thursday. Have a browse and meet the locals, as well as picking up some delicious local produce. Get a bargain and bring home a souvenir or two!

Every May the town pays homage to its Georgian routes during the Blandford Georgian Fayre, where the town has a party feel with stalls, fair rides, street markets, and food and craft stalls lining the streets for a fun filled day. Musical performances and street re-enactments will keep the whole family entertained throughout the day. Other yearly events to be sure to catch are the Blandford Carnival which occurs each September.

For such a small town there is plenty on offer to visitors, with a selection of bars, cafés and restaurants perfect for dining out. The Yellow Bicycle Cafe is the perfect place to stop off for an afternoon tea with a great selection of hot drinks and delicious cakes being served. If high quality pub grub is your preferred choice then make sure to head to The Woodpecker, which has earned rave reviews and awards. Among the restaurants in the town you’ll find food from a wide range of cuisines so your taste buds will be treated during a holiday in Blandford Forum.
