Among other places of interest and fantastic locations, including Corfe Castle, Brownsea Island and Gold Hill (aka Hovis Hill), Dorset has an abundance of beautiful beaches. Head to Studland, the filming location for Coldplay’s iconic “Yellow” music video; stomp along the 10 miles of sandy beaches in Poole and Bournemouth or take in the soft golden sands and safe bathing waters of Weymouth.

A visit to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site is also a must, with beaches including picture-perfect West Bay, used in the TV series Broadchurch, Durdle Door and its stunning limestone arch, and Charmouth, famous for its fossils, all found along the 95 miles of coastline.

The region has some wonderful towns to visit and some fantastic eateries from simple but delicious home cooked café nibbles to fine dining. Dorset is also well known for its fantastic market towns and you won’t have to look far to find a local farmers market selling fresh produce, while fish and chips shops are never too far away.

Michelin-starred restaurants aren’t too far from the county, with several in Wiltshire, Hampshire and Somerset, while there are some fantastic pubs in the area, serving up traditional, local produce in classic pub grub recipes.
