Christchurch is a charming town in the east of Dorset which joins Bournemouth; the town has a natural harbour which is fed by the River Stour and the River Avon and is a lovely holiday destination in Dorset.

Sitting right on the Dorset coastline it will come as no surprise that water sports such as kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing are popular in Christchurch. There are also a number of beaches in Christchurch that are great for a spot of relaxation or building a sandcastle. Beaches stretch from Highcliffe through to Mudeford Sandbank with Friars Cliff and Avon Beach being two of the most popular. The beaches on this part of the Dorset coast provide a fantastic opportunity for a coastal walk with breathtaking views out to the Isle of Wight.

The buzzing community in the town has several festivals and events that take place during the year that are well worth visiting the town for. The Christchurch Regatta is a ‘must see’ if you’re visiting the area in June with competitive racing taking place throughout the day .Other annual festivals that take place in the town include Christchurch Food & Wine Festival in May and Christchurch Festival in July where music acts descend on the town for a weekend of performing.

Even though the town is only small, there are plenty of cafés and restaurants for dining out or having a light lunch in this picturesque town. The Jetty is one of the most popular restaurants in the town with tasty food being served in a charming setting. For a lively night out head to Bournemouth which is only ten minutes away by train and boasts a wide selection of pubs and nightclubs.

Bournemouth Aviation Museum is well worth a visit while in Christchurch with the museum housing a collection of historic aircrafts. If you prefer to get up to something more active on your days out then head to Snowtrax for an exhilarating experience as if you were actually on the snow.

The town centre can also boast ample shopping to keep you busy while in Christchurch. It may not have the big brand names but a series of independent stores have all you need to find that perfect memory of your holiday in Christchurch. There is a weekly traditional market held on the high street each Monday turning it into a bustling hive of activity.
