Nestled in the grounds of a large house on the outskirts of Worth Matravers, this charming cottage offers a peaceful hideaway in the stunning Dorset countryside.

Set within the grounds of a Purbeck stone house, this property enjoys plenty of peace and privacy with spectacular rural and sea views. Located on the edge of the village of Worth Matravers, the local pub and tearoom are just a short stroll away. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are spectacular walking and cycling routes within a stone’s throw from the property, taking in the World Heritage status Jurassic Coast.

Inside, this small but cosy cottage has been carefully decorated to highlight exposed stone walls and allow plenty of natural light with a sociable open-plan layout. The kitchen area boasts a fridge with ice compartment, microwave, electric oven and hob and dishwasher. Once the meal is prepared, dine at the table beside French doors that open onto the garden and provide stunning views across the fields to the sea. When the sun goes down, relax together in the comfortable seating while making the most of the TV/DVD. A wide archway separates the living and sleeping area, which includes a king-size bed and has been decorated in neutral tones. There is an en-suite shower room with a WC. 

A small number of stone steps lead from the dining area to the delightful enclosed south-facing garden. Laid to lawn with mature plants and trees dotting the perimeter, there is an outdoor table and chairs plus loungers and a BBQ to make the most of the sunshine and wonderful views. One car can be parked just outside the cottage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A lovely cottage, lovely owners, beautiful location. A nice view of the sea from house and garden. The garden was great for the dog, as was the field and paths next to. A good small shop & post office at Worth Matravers for essentials. Plenty of diverse exploring in the area.

We love the stone barn, beautiful and perfectly formed. It has the most stunning view of the coast and lot of wildlife activities in the garden. Its also a lovely placed to be rained in to watch and listen to the sound of the rain.

Lovely cosy little barn in the most stunning of locations. 5 minutes walk into Worth Matravers and the local pub. Beautiful coastal and country walks literally on the doorstep.

The Stone Barn cottage is embedded in a beautiful, small garden, from which you have a wonderful view over the gras meadows to the sea. The cottage is beautiful furnished and very comfortably. Idyllic setting, the little stone barn and the gorgeous walled garden with sea view. The living accommodation is intimate so will suit couples who are comfortable together, and especially those with a dog.

I loved the stone barn and garden. The view was fabulous and the bonus was spotting two tawny owls in the tree at dusk. The location was ideal for local walks and visiting studland beach, the Arne reserve, swanage.

We had a lovely stay at Stone Barn. Location was excellent! Close to plenty of beaches and walks. Mel and her husband were very nice. Friendly and discreet. Didn't notice they were around. The cottage has everything needed for a short stay. We were a little surprised at just how small it was but soon settled in. TV and sofa too small however there Read moreis limited room. I felt at home almost immediately, the cottage is very welcoming. It has and has a beautiful view an is superbly located for lots of walks. Really comfortable and the enclosed garden was perfect for my dog. There was a small gap in the wall and as my dog is a terrier I knew he'd no doubt prefer to go through the hole, by the time I got back from ouRead morer walk Mel had covered up the gap. Lovely, well equipped though compact cottage in a beautiful location. The beds comfy and its well equipped. It would be great for a quick week away, it is small but ideal for two. We will definitely use again.

Great little retreat in the most amazing setting! Absolutely spotless and a really comfortable bed - slept well. Well appointed and warm (we were there in November when the weather was 'cold'). The barn is small, with cooking eating and sleeping in one room. Excluding the fridge, very little food storage space and only a small freezer section. We took fishing tackle and cameras, and the space became cluttered with no place to put empty suitcases. If one is eating out and only using it as a base then the accommodation is fine. This is a beautiful little cottage in one of the most beautiful parts of England. We could not fault it. If you love walking then this place is ideal. As well easy access to one of the best pubs in England the Square and Compass is an added bonus. Highly recommend.

The Storn Barn Cottage has an indescribable charm and is very cozy and beautifully decorated. It has an excellent indoor and outdoor area. It is the ideal starting point to make wonderfull coastal walks and to visit all the sights of the jurassic coast.

Beautiful cottage and fab garden in a stunning location. Wildlife and livestock abound. Hardly got in the car all week - beauty in all directions on foot (Swanage, St Aldhelms, Kingston, Kimmeridge). Square & Compass is a jewel.

Superb little holiday hideaway. Compact but marvellously laid out little cottage. Lovely large windows look out onto big enclosed garden area and lovely sea-view. Birdlife and wildlife make relaxing entertainment. Just as the birds, rabbits, squirrels etc retire for the evening the owls and bats come out to continue the show. Excellent location for peace, quiet and total privacy. Owner made himself known on first day and then left me totally in peace. VERY comfy bed... some mornings it was quite hard to get up!

The location was awesome for the costal path and the Priests Way. Parking was very tight and we had a van which was awkward. The cottage was very small and more than a few days would probably be a struggle. The pub - Square and Compass - was excellent with real ales and ciders and only a 5 minute walk away.

Fabulous location lots of walks along the coastal path and into Swanage. Saw deer and a stag on our early morning walk and was lucky to have blue sky 4 days of our week holiday . Lovely for star gazing too. The Square and Compass provided a roaring fire and good beer on rainy days. Very comfortable cosy accommodation.
