The perfect bolthole for a couple, this characterful property is part of a country estate with beautiful gardens. With the use of an outdoor pool and tennis court, it’s a great choice for a relaxing break.

Visitors to the historic village of Minterne Magna will delight in exploring the stunning Minterne Gardens, which host a wide range of flowering plants, set in a beautiful Himalayan valley surrounded by rolling Dorset countryside. Home to a notable collection of rhododendrons, the garden is of particular merit in the spring with daffodils, bluebells, primulas, and ornamental cherries blooming under the canopy of trees. Visit the famous hillside giant in the nearby village of Cerne Abbas (2 miles), where you will also find local amenities. 10 miles away is the county town of Dorchester, which has a bustling high street, cinemas and museums. Charming Sherborne is also within 10 miles and has two castles and a striking abbey. This property forms part of the Minterne Estate and sits within an idyllic walled garden, which is accessed on foot.

A private entrance gives access to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This characterful room has a fireplace fitted with a wood burner, Smart TV, DVD player, Record player, radio and Amazon Alexa, a lovely space to relax and to dine just opposite. The kitchen is set to the right of the room and has a gas hob and electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Just next door is a wet room with a shower and WC. Winding cottage-style stairs rise to the first floor and a mezzanine style bedroom which is set into the eaves. This spacious room has a super-king-size bed and lovely views, making it a wonderful space for two.

Heading outside you will find a terrace, coal BBQ (coal fully stocked for your stay) with furniture and privacy screening. Beyond this, there is a shared walled garden with a lawn tennis court and a heated outdoor pool with a changing room. The pool is open from April to October, with access permitted between 10 am and 6 pm daily and access is private for Pool House guests between 12 noon and 4 pm). Access to Minterne Gardens is included, daily from 10 am to 6 pm. There is ample off-road parking, within a shared yard approx. 20m from the property.

  • Dogs must be kept on a lead when in the main gardens
  • When Lord Digby is in residence, guests are welcome to have a complimentary tour of the house and learn about the history

  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 15:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 1 dog allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £150 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £20. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Tastefully decorated, fully equipped and exceptionally comfortable, especially the super king-sized bed and the Bothy Pool House provides a tranquil haven in an exquisite setting. Lucky with the weather, we gave Alexa and her audio-visual retinue the week off and let the atmosphere soak in. Our incompetence on the tennis court stayed within the garRead moreden walls and we relished the privacy of the pool. The whole team provided the warmest welcome. We adored the cottage which is set in beautiful surroundings and was extremely peaceful and comfortable. The gardens in particular were an additional bonus for us to enjoy our daily walks. We particularly enjoyed the heated swimming pool which was fabulous. The welcome pack on arrival was much appreciated and well thought out. We had a lovely time at The Bothy Pool House which was really quaint. We loved the decor, equipment and situation. The garden was enclosed and we were able to let our dog Gus out without worrying about him. We enjoyed the record player, wished we had thought to take some of our own vinyl. The pool was heated but weather wasn't warm enough for me. The patio overlooks the swimming pool and tennis court and being in a walled garden, is totally safe for dogs. The estate and garden are stunning, the latter of which we could access at any time. Owner, staff and residents are all very friendly and helpful and the location is beautiful offering many local walks, quaint villages and only less than 3Read more0 minutes from the sea. On arrival we were delighted with a generous basket of foods and drinks. The accommodation is most unique with wonderful secure outdoor space.
