Property code: DC132

Stunning 18th-century cottage with many period features and beautifully handcrafted bespoke kitchen, located conveniently for access to the coast and the famous White Horse.

This delightful cottage is located on a tranquil no-through lane in the quaint village of Osmington. Ideally situated for access to the plethora of coastal walks available along Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, it is also conveniently located to visit the famous White Horse on the South Dorset Downs. The White Horse is a hill figure cut into limestone and is said to have been created in 1808 in honour of King George III.

The cottage is entered from the rear garden through a porch into a hall with ample space for coats and boots so that you don’t have to travel through the house with muddy boots after a country walk. There is a wonderful beamed double aspect kitchen/dining room with a beautiful handcrafted kitchen and traditional oak worktops. All modern conveniences can be found in the kitchen along with some period features including an original bread oven and inglenook, which houses the family dining table. The sitting room has yet more period features with exposed stone walls and oak floors. The log burner provides a cosy feel and you can imagine curling up on the comfortable sofa with a good book in the cooler evenings. French doors to the garden allow a seamless transition from the interior to the exterior. There is a bathroom located downstairs for convenience, and this is accessed down three steps from the hall. On the first floor of the property there are three beamed bedrooms with views over the garden to the wooded hillside beyond. There are 2 king sized rooms with en suites, one of which also has a single bed and a twin room with exposed stone walls and feature fireplace.

This property has a level rear garden mainly laid to lawn, and surrounding flower beds extending the feel of the countryside into the garden. It is a great place for sitting out reading a book, catching some rays or simply enjoying nature at its best. The terrace outside the French windows is ideal for sunny breakfasts and evening barbecues.

Our party of four adults and three children were very comfortably accommodated at Rosedale. It is a lovely, deceptively spacious, old stone house in a beautiful little hamlet. Perfect for getting around coastal Dorset. We were very appreciative of the little welcome pack of wine, biscuits and milk. The TAP car charger was a boon. Two cars can be paRead morerked very conveniently. Kids were over the moon with the house itself, tv apps, toys and books. We hope to return. Highly recommended. Hide

A beautifully maintained cottage in a 'chocolate box' village of Osmington. We've stayed at many cottages in our time and this is the best we have visited.
