Worth Matravers Holidays |

Choose from a variety of accommodation to suit your stay

Worth Matravers is located just a short trip away from Langton Matravers so taking in both villages on a trip to the Isle of Purbeck in South Dorset is easily done. It’s the perfect destination for those seeking a rural break and one that places you wonderfully for exploring all that the Jurassic Coast and Purbeck Hills has to offer.

Worth Matravers is really worth a peek as it is an old village perched near the cliffs of the Isle of Purbeck. Originally the village was built around a small pond and it has all the traditional charm you would expect from a rural village. Being so close to the sea means that access to the South West Coast Path is not far so bracing walks and remarkable scenery are just a quick stroll away, so don’t forget the camera!

The village pub is a must visit while staying in the area and is called the Square and Compass. Here, not only will you find great food and drink but you will also stumble across a small museum showcasing fossils, as well as a stone carving festival if you stay during the right time of year. We also highly recommend the Worth Matravers Tea and Supper Room for a tasty treat in cute and kitsch surroundings.

There are a handful of rocky beaches that are easily accessed from the village, such as Winspit, Seacombe and Chapman’s Pool. These dramatic landscapes are perfect for exploring and offer some spectacular views out to sea. Winspit was in fact used as a filming location that featured in two episodes of Doctor Who.

The Swanage Railway passes through this area so you might like to hop on or off depending on which destination you choose to visit! The vintage feel of a steam train ride will make any holiday extremely memorable and if you take a trip along the entire route you will be able to take in the picturesque Corfe Castle too.

The Purbeck Hills and the stunning countryside is all around as is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The ghost village of Tyneham is in the area which the Ministry of Defence use as a training ground for live artillery; your Worth Matravers holiday has more on offer than you might first think!
