Dorset tea

If a luxurious spread of tasteful cakes, scrumptious finger sandwiches, and steaming hot tea served in the finest china tickles your taste buds, then luckily for you, we have discovered some charming tearooms in Dorset serving up their finest delights. Celebrate National Afternoon Tea Week which runs from the 14th-20th August, and pop into one of our favourites for a treat.

Frieda's Tearoom, Bournemouth

Renowned for locally sourced, high quality produce, and healthy ingredients, Frieda's Tearoom is family run, traditional and quaint. Take a seat on the colourfully painted chairs, enjoy the mixture of decorative china on the dresser, and shabby-chic touches. The popular afternoon tea includes an assortment of finger sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam, homemade cakes, and a selection of teas.

Worth Matravers Tea & Supper Room, Swanage

This quintessential tearoom offers an afternoon tea beautifully arranged on fine vintage china. Locally made jams, scones with lashings of cream, and sandwiches washed down with a cuppa will definitely satisfy a rumbling tum. With friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere, wind the afternoon away under the traditional wooden beams or in the glorious garden.

Comins Tea House, Sturminster Newton

A selection of fine teas sourced from all over the world harmonised with locally sourced treats such as savoury tartines and mini cakes comprise an afternoon tea at Comins Tea House. The staff really know their stuff when it comes to tea so don't hesitate to ask any questions about the brews you are sampling.

Moreton Tearooms, Moreton, Dorchester

2014's winner of Best Dorset Cream Tea in the Dorset Magazine, Food, Drink and Farming Awards, Moreton Tearooms is a gorgeous old school house oozing character and charm. Order one of their ‘Special Afternoon Teas' and receive homemade mini cakes, scones, and sandwiches. Stroll through the French windows into the sheltered courtyard, and relax in this large suntrap.
