  • One of four beautiful cottages converted from an impressive Grade II listed stone barn with modern interior, oaken beams and original stone work
  • Located in a quiet rural spot on the edge of a village with stunning vistas of the open countryside stretching to Askerswell Down and Dorset's spectacular Jurassic Coast is 5 miles away
  • Lush lawn with summer house and space to play or relax
Property code: DC191

Situated at the edge of the quiet rural village of Askerswell, this 4-star accommodation is a well-equipped and relaxing retreat from the daily grind.

This property is one of four cottages within a wonderfully renovated and converted Grade II listed barn. The cottage has unadulterated views of the countryside and Askerswell Down. With Bridport and the Jurassic Coast 4 and 5 miles away respectively, there is plenty to see and do here.

Entry to the cottage is via the traditional stable door that leads you directly into the welcoming and homely open-plan dining room and sitting room with exposed oak beams and feature stone work that remind you that you are in a Grade II listed building. As well as the Smart TV, Firestick, DVD player and Bluetooth speaker system, there is a four-seater extendable dining table and two soft two-seater sofas. Crisp and fresh looking, the room is very bright and this is a theme that carries on into the kitchen. Although small, the kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of storage space, a toaster, microwave, cafetière, gas hob, electric oven, washing machine, fridge and separate freezer. With the kitchen to your back, a steep staircase with a slight twist, takes you up to the first floor. On the first floor there is the double bedroom that would be perfect, small but comfortable, as a master bedroom, a twin single bedroom and a box room for your luggage all with original floor boards.

Across the lane in front of the barn is a sizeable garden with a well-maintained lawn, a summerhouse and garden furniture, where you can dine al fresco or just relax on the deck chairs or sun loungers.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom: with shower over bath (limited headroom) and WC
  • Electric oven and gas hob, fridge, freezer, toaster, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher
  • Dining table (extendable)
  • Smart TV, Bluetooth sound system, Firestick and DVD player
  • Fibre broadband and Wi-Fi
  • Central heating
  • Summerhouse and loungers in garden across the lane
  • 1 dog welcome (downstairs only please)
  • Short breaks available all year round
  • Shops are 4 miles and the local pub is ½ mile away
  • Cot is available for families with small children and babies
  • Private off-road parking available

We have just had a wonderful stay at Threshers. The property was extremely well equipped, well maintained, and spotlessly clean. We even had a phone call from the owner to check all was OK. We booked Threshers Cottage for a three night break over half term. It is very well located just off the A35, and therefore with very easy access to all the places we wanted to visit. Even though it is close to a main road, you would not have known. It is well equipped and comfortable. Well recommended

Quaint small cottage in a beautiful village, well located for exploring West Dorset. Kitchen well equipped and open plan living area ideal. This was the fourth time we have stayed at Threshers. It's a cosy, well kept and very comfortable cottage in the beautiful village of Askerswell. The owner, Peter, makes a point of checking in with his guests to ensure all is in good order, as it inevitably is. You won't regret staying here.
