First-floor barn conversion property enjoying a village location in East Dorset, within easy reach of the county’s famous coastline, just a short drive from Bournemouth and Poole.

This property is located in the village of Lytchett Matravers in East Dorset, within walking distance (1.5 miles) of the village pubs and shops. Just six miles south-east of the property is the coastal town of Poole, which has no less than five beaches, including the long, sandy, well-kept beach at Sandbanks, from which it is possible to catch the chain ferry across to the National Trust reserve at Studland Bay. Located within Poole Harbour, and easily accessible by a regular boat service, is the quiet, traffic-free Brownsea Island. Famed for its connections to the Scouting movement, and known for its abundance of wildlife, including rare red squirrels, a day trip to the island is a must-do for visitors to the area.

A set of stairs brings guests staying at this property from the car port to the front door of the first-floor apartment. There are exposed beams throughout the property and, due to its location in the eaves of the barn conversion, there are sloping ceilings and some reduced head-height, but most visitors find this only adds to the charm. The main living space is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with windows on all sides which flood the room with light. The lounge area has two recliner armchairs and a 2 seat reclining sofa which allow guests to relax comfortably in front of the TV/DVD, as well as to enjoy the superb sunsets from the panoramic window. There is also a selection of books and games provided here for guests’ use. The dining area has an oak table and chairs, beyond which the kitchen area is well-equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. The property has one bedroom, a super-king-size room which can be made up as a twin on request, thanks to the zip-and-link beds. The room benefits from an en-suite shower room with WC, as well as patio doors which open onto the balcony.

The property’s south-facing balcony, which has a table and chairs, is a great space for enjoying quiet drinks in the evening whilst admiring the views to the nearby Purbeck Hills. There is storage available for outdoor equipment such as bikes and surf boards, as well as carport parking.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

lovely barn conversion in a quiet location but just 10 minutes drive to Poole. the cottage is ideal for two people, very clean and has rural views. there is a balcony to sit on and admire the countryside

A lovely barn conversion where the holiday property is situated above, its a large size for a couple and the owners who are lovely and helpful accept dogs. Lovely property, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The view over the garden was only beaten by the view from the other window of baby bunnies. Great location for visiting all sorts of places, museums, beaches and stately homes. We had a wonderful time.

We had a very relaxed time from the moment we arrived. The accommodation was 10/10. Homemade goodies and milk were just what we needed to enjoy our first cup of tea. Our two CKCS's loved the surrounding area, especially Wareham Forest. The view of their gorgeous garden and the surrounding area made us feel like we were in heaven, the 'stairway to hRead moreeaven' in their garden said it all! We really didn't want to come home. A lovely stay, the cottage was well finished and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Parking available in the car port. Internet access was limited to internet searching and email checking, though we didn't miss streaming tv (something we would normally do on holiday), there was so much to do in the area, it's just a shame the weather was poor.

This is an excellent choice for 2 people and we had a good Christmas week there and there was plenty of space to relax. we even cooked a turkey dinner with all trimmings with no problem.
