This pretty Grade II-listed mid-row cottage is the ideal retreat for all the family. With a pub next door and a stunning garden, this is a true countryside getaway.

Located in the centre of the pretty village of Church Knowle with superb views of the Purbeck Hills from the garden, this holiday let has an abundance of character in a great location for both coast and country. The National Trust’s Corfe Castle is just 2 miles away, while Kimmeridge Bay (3.5 miles) is known as the safest snorkelling site in Dorset; if you and the kids like fossil hunting, Worbarrow Bay (5 miles) is the place to go. For sandcastle building visit the sands of Studland Beach (5 miles). Take advantage of the traditional village pub just next door, or head into Wareham (6 miles) for a wider choice of bars and restaurants.

Inside the cottage, a traditional farmhouse style gives the property a welcoming and cosy feel. Stone flooring welcomes you into the hall and the breakfast room, where an ornamental fireplace and pine furniture help you get ready for the day; the kitchen also boasts this wonderful flooring and has everything you need, including a sink, oven, dishwasher and microwave. Retire to the lounge and sink into the sofas in front of the wood burner, relaxing among the exposed beams and soft, cosy decoration. Head through the stable door from the kitchen into the conservatory which acts as a dining room, offering stunning views out into the garden and glimpses of the cottage’s original exterior. There is also a games room including a PS3 console and a reading area, perfect for children. Dry your clothes after a beach walk in the drier in the utility room that also includes a WC. Upstairs, all the bedrooms have reduced height at the eaves, so watch your head! On the first floor, two double bedrooms with calming, neutral decor and wood furniture make for a peaceful night’s sleep; one bright and airy bathroom features a shower over the bath and WC while the second bathroom has a shower. Heading up to the second floor via two steep separate staircases, you’ll find two twin bedrooms with wonderful exposed beams and a Victorian ornamental fireplace in one of the rooms to complement the quirky ceiling and wall shapes.

Leading out to the rear garden from the conservatory, the small patio with garden furniture is a perfect spot to enjoy an al fresco bite to eat overlooking the spectacular Purbeck Hills. The garden is well screened from the pub garden and has a pretty lawn surrounded by trees and shrubs. There is parking for 2 cars on the village lane directly in front of the cottage, spaces are not reserved and will be subject to availability.

  • 4 bedrooms – 2 double, 2 twin (twins covered by stair gates) (1 twin accessed via steep stairs)
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 shower room, 1 bathroom with shower over the bath

We visited on the recommendation of a friend & weren't at all disappointed. The cottage is very clean/ spacious - 2 very generous doubles on the 1st floor and 2 twins in the roof, with 2 bathrooms and a downstairs toilet, so ideal for our group of 3 friends. We visited during Storm Isha, so didn't really use the conservatory or garden but it would Read morebe fantastic in the Spring/Summer. Didn't matter to us at all but I would just say that if you feel the cold and it's not the hottest heating system. Hide

Beautiful cottage, in a lovely location and well looked after. We really enjoyed our stay. A few snags in regards to the bins from the previous persons who stayed and having to rewash the tableware (cups, plates and cutlery) as they were still dirty but put back in the cupboard. Other than that it was lovely and relaxing. Looking to rebook again anRead mored recommended to our friends and family. Hide

Location is great, garden is lovely and cottage very comfortable. A little rustic in places and we were staying for two nights over a weekend and didn't have enough towels for each person, toilet roll or dishwasher tablets which was a little annoying.
