  • Within easy reach of the stunning Jurassic Coast which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Property code: 76433

Steeped in history, this character cottage is within easy reach of the stunning Jurassic Coast and the vibrant town of Bridport, or why not simply relax beside the fire before visiting the village pub

Set in a terrace of cottages opposite the charming village pub, this quintessential English cottage dates from the 1740's and is ideally situated for exploring both the surrounding chocolate box villages and the beautiful Jurassic coastline. Nearby Bridport has a choice of restaurants, pubs and shops for those essential supplies as well as a thriving selection of shops selling antiques and vintage curios, should you wish to seek out some treasures. Take a trip to West Bay, made famous by the BBC series Broadchurch and admire the sandy beach and stunning cliffs that line it. With great routes for walking and cycling leading directly from the property, there is something here for everyone.

Two steps take you from the pavement to the entrance door into this terraced cottage, where there is room to leave your coats and boots in the hallway. A further step takes you into a charming lounge/diner, which is the perfect welcoming space in which to relax. This characterful room has a Smart TV and a stunning inglenook fireplace complete with wood burner, so why not put your favourite programme on and unwind, before enjoying a home cooked meal in the adjacent dining area. Set to the back of the cottage is the kitchen, which has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and a washing machine. The bathroom leads from the kitchen and has a shower over bath and WC. Heading back into the lounge a door leads to the winding cottage style stairs, which rise to the first floor. Here you will find a pretty double bedroom set to the front of the cottage and a cosy single bedroom overlooking the garden. Due to the age of the property there are low beams, vaulted ceilings and changes in level peppered throughout, which only adds to its character and charm.

Venturing outside to the pretty terraced rear garden you will find a fully enclosed space with steps leading up to numerous levels and a lovely seating area at the top. This tranquil spot is ideal for enjoying a drink or light meal outdoors. Roadside parking can be found to the front of the cottage, subject to availability.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double and 1 single
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC
  • Electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine
  • Wood burner (first basket of logs included)
  • Electric and central heating included
  • Roadside parking (subject to availability)
  • Wi-Fi included
  • 1 dog welcome (further by arrangement)
  • Beach 3.5 miles, pub and shop within walking distance

Comfortable little cottage in a very quiet, but beautiful village. Lots of walks straight from the front door. Everything you need in a holiday cottage was provided. Shops only 5 minutes drive away. Pub opposite was still shut for lockdown so no eating out this visit. Would stay again.

The cottage and its location very much enjoyed. The cottage delivered the character hoped for, even if the stairs need to be carefully negotiated. Surprisingly well equipped and furnished, given the situation this year. Lovely to sit outside, in sunshine, in mid-October. Great walks from the doorstep - always a plus. The pub in Nettlecombe delivereRead mored a great Sunday roast. The owner's flexibility was appreciated when a date change was necessary (not because of Covid-19!). Hide

A gorgeous cottage full of character in a beautiful village - with a lovely pub right opposite. We had such a lovely time, preparing meals in the well equipped kitchen and enjoying the log burner in the cool evenings. The children loved the multi level garden.

A lovely cosy cottage. Everything you need for your holiday. Very clean which is so important in these times! Our daughter loved her bedroom and the window seat. The pub opposite was very pleasant and not at all noisy. We loved our stay there.

This is a lovely little cottage, conveniently close to Bridport but still rural enough to feel like a real break. The house has a lot of character and is perfect for a cosy getaway.

A very cosy, quirky cottage in an excellent location. The main bedroom is perhaps a little small and therefore lacking in clothes hanging space but use of the second bedroom overcomes this. The living area is comfortable with plenty of space for 2 people. The owners are easily contactable and extremely helpful.
