This beautifully converted Grade II listed granary offers cosy accommodation for a family or a couple and is situated in a picturesque village just outside the thriving Dorset town of Bridport.

The charming village of Walditch makes a great base for exploring Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, with plenty of stunning clifftop and coastal walks to enjoy. Within 1 mile is the scenic Jellyfields Local Nature Reserve where you can walk amongst beautiful surroundings, ideal for nature lovers. West Bay is just 3 miles away and offers a glorious beach and impressive cliffs, with Golden Cap in the distance. There are numerous beaches and pretty towns and villages further along the coast, including Burton Bradstock (3 miles), Eype (3.5 miles), Seatown (6 miles), Charmouth (9 miles), and Chesil Beach (15.5 miles). The thriving market town of Bridport (1 mile) has a choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. Turning inland, places of interest include Eggardon Hill (5 miles), Lewesdon Hill (7 miles), Pilsdon Pen (8 miles), Forde Abbey (13 miles) and Lambert’s and Coney’s Castle (10 miles).

Entering this charming former granary, which has been sympathetically converted using environmentally friendly materials, you will find yourself in the light and stylish open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Retaining original features including exposed stonework and wooden beams, this is a welcoming and relaxing living area. The lounge features a TV/DVD, comfortable seating and a wood burner. There’s a delightful dining area, perfect for enjoying a family meal together. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. A small freezer is located in the under stairs cupboard. From the lounge a slope leads down to the ground-floor twin bedroom which has a stone floor and a small inset feature window. There is also a shower room on the ground floor complete with shower and WC. Heading upstairs you’ll find a spacious double bedroom with a vaulted ceiling with its original A frame, exposed beams, oak floor and historic granary tallies. There is also an en-suite bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC.

Stepping outside you can sit back in the front courtyard which has an unenclosed, partially screened area. There is ample off-road parking available.

The Hyde cottage was a joy to stay in with all mod cons and everything and more to keep us very happy. We loved the character of the cottage in its quiet and spectacular country setting with easy parking. Location near Bridport excellent. Very peaceful. Wood burner and unlimited logs were appreciated. Upstairs bedroom and bathroom pleasant. Good showers. Uncomfortable sofas downstairs made relaxing difficult. Immediate surroundings a bit ramshackle.

This wonderfully cosy cottage is an easy 15 minute walk from the centre of Bridport down a beautiful tree-lined lane. Walks directly from the cottage take you up onto the hills with beautiful views. A 40 minute walk takes you to the beach at West Bay. It is a great centre from which to explore other Dorset delights including the newly revealed sea Read moremonster (Pliosaur) fossil at Kimmeridge. Hide

This was the fifth time we used the Granery, a fact which speaks for itself. It's perfect for us, and perfectly placed for the things we always do in West Dorset

This is a first class cottage in a great location for exploring the surrounding area. The cottage is well equipped and the log burner was just what we needed on a couple of chilly evenings. The hosts are really friendly and Mark is very knowledgeable about the local places of interest and things to see and do.

The Granary was delightful everything we needed for a very relaxing break. Lots of very interesting places to visit and lovely walks. Only down side was the settees need upgrading, very uncomfortable.

Well equipped, warm, welcoming. The granary was perfect for our stay, the little Xmas decorations were just lovely. Fabulous location, just a short walk to town, we even sang Carols on the little Village green on Xmas eve. We were welcomed by Mark, who was on hand for any needs, and thoroughly enjoyed the Prosecco and mince pies that were there to Read moregreet us. We will definitely use the Granary again. Hide

The fact that this was our fourth (or possibly fifth) visit to The Granery speaks for itself. We are regular visitors to Dorset ( which is where we come from,) and is perfectly placed for us to do the things we always like to do in the west of the county. The fact that one can walk into Bridport so easily is a huge bonus, and the road itself, with Read moreits stunning trees, is a great pleasure. The Granery itself feels so comfortable and familiar, I expect we shall be back again. Hide

This was an excellent property in good location about 15 mins to town Would recommend the olive tree for food and the potting shed for lazy evening drinks

Comfortable and cozy cottage in farm style setting in lovely rural location. We enjoyed the walk through the village, and down the lane towards Bridport. Only a mile from Bridport and about 3 miles to sea and coast path. It was nice to be able to sit outside when the weather was good. We had a lovely time in Dorset and the cottage has a lovely location, set back from the main busy road of Bridport. Also in a perfect location with only short drives to all the walks we did around the Jurassic Coast for fossil hunting. The owners were very lovely and we had good chats about the nearby Real Tennis hall (never heard of it before) andRead more other local things to do like the market on Saturdays in Bridport.
