This delightful 18th Century thatched farmhouse, built from “red brick in raking Flemish bond", is perfect for those looking for a family or group holiday in Dorset. Situated just under three miles from the bustling market town of Bridport.

The detached farmhouse is tucked away along a no through lane and is a real rural retreat with far reaching countryside views. The vibrant market town of Bridport is a 5 minute drive and has a selection of shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as a lively arts scene and vintage and farmers’ markets. The nearby fishing village of West Bay is only three miles away with its pretty harbour and beach. Located just 10 minutes drive or a half hour walk along a private track by a stream, is a lovely Dorset village which has a pub, café and farm shop with local produce including fresh bread, pastries, cheese and local beer, gin and wine. Bike hire is also available in the village to enjoy a ride along the bike trail accessed from the property. Or if walking is more your thing, you’ll love the various walking trails from the doorstep, especially the captivating Colmer’s Hill with its path right to the top and spectacular panoramic views out to sea and across the rolling countryside of Dorset.

Entering this beautiful red brick farmhouse, you will find an open-plan light filled kitchen/dining room, the ideal place to start the day. The kitchen is well-equipped with a Range oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer, it is just the place to rustle up a warming breakfast in the morning or enjoy supper by the cosy open fire. Once the cooking is done head through to the dual aspect sitting room; stretch out on the sofas and armchairs in front of the TV/DVD and the roaring wood burner which is housed in its own traditional inglenook fireplace. When the time comes to lay your head down, head up the stairs to the four bedrooms. You will find the spacious super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request) with en-suite shower and WC, a triple bedroom with a super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request) with an additional single bed and en-suite shower and WC., as well as two king-size zip-and-links (which can be made into small twins on request). Heading outside to the large garden, summer living comes easy at this property. A delightful outside dining terrace overlooking rolling fields as far as the eye can see, is the perfect spot for balmy evenings chatting long into the night with friends and family over the gas BBQ. Whatever the weather, guests can sink into the hot tub for a little stargazing under the dark night sky. Beautifully well kept farmhouse with ample room, comfy bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen with some lovely welcome touches. Huge round dining table which is great for eating but a tad too big for board games. Hot tub has a gorgeous view and we highly recommend a sunset dip to take in the views. Great location and lovely house. Good quality all through the property and really nice to have more glasses, crockery and cutlery than the standard 8 settings you get elsewhere. Definitely to be recommended. The Spyway Inn is worth a visit, lovely people and food was great.

Beautiful cottage and really well equipped Will definitely return. But be warnedthe lane to the farmhouse seems susceptible to flooding, so if the weather is bad, be careful what car you bring.

Bilshay Farmhouse is perfect for a family get together with varying age groups. It was spacious and easily accommodated 3 families. - 6 adults and 3 children. Even though weather was mixed the children enjoyed the hot tub, games room and trampoline. Location was nice and quiet and gave easy access to Bridport and surrounding areas of interest. Loved everything about the cottage. Bedrooms were huge and the whole house was so cosy even though it's a large property! Beautiful views and outdoor space. We honestly didn't want to leave, the loveliest place to celebrate my dads surprise 60th birthday weekend!

The cottage was spacious, well equipped and thoughtfully laid out. It is in a stunning location, remote enough to enjoy the countryside views but still possible to walk to Symondsbury in about 30 minutes and / or a 5 minute drive into Bridport. It was a pleasant surprise the see brand new washing machine, tumble dryer and table tennis table. The beRead moreds deserve a special mention as they were excellent, very large and very comfortable. A beautiful farmhouse, well equipped and every need catered for. Stunning location with beautiful views. Ample space for our 3 families to spend time together comfortably. Would highlly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful setting with country walks and pretty places close by to visit.

Absolutely beautiful house and stunning garden with views over the countryside. We were a party of 9 and there was plenty of equipment for everyone. Not far to nice towns and beaches.
