At West Coombe Farmhouse you will find high quality Bed and Breakfast accommodation in a relaxed family atmosphere. We put a lot of effort into keeping our guest rooms comfortably and tastefully furnished, and hope that you will feel more like a house-guest than a paying guest!

The house, built around 1840 in Georgian style, is situated in a quiet hamlet three miles from the Jurassic Coast at Lulworth Cove and two miles from the Waterloo main line at Wool. There are four letting bedrooms: two doubles (one with an ensuite shower room, the other with an ensuite bathroom), one single and one twin (can be a king-size double) which has a private bathroom. We only let the single room in association with one of the other rooms because it has no dedicated bathroom facilities. We are limited to six guests at any time but various combinations of rooms are possible.

Guests have their own sitting-room which has a log fire in winter, TV, a library of books and a selection of games. When the weather is fine you can take advantage of our lovely secluded garden where co-owner Rachel has a flower growing business (

Many people come here to walk either on the Coast Path or in the beautiful countryside which is full of wildlife. Guests may borrow our mountain-bikes to explore the area too. We are close to many places of interest such as Lulworth Castle, Monkey World and the Tank Museum. The railway can take you to Weymouth, Dorchester, Wareham, Poole or Bournemouth and Corfe Castle, Swanage, Blandford Forum and Wimborne Minster are only a drive away. Buses are few and far between but they can get you to and from Wool, Wareham, Lulworth and all stops to Dorchester - except on a Sunday!

National Trust sites in the area include Kingston Lacy House and Badbury Rings, Thomas Hardy's birthplace at Bockhampton and his house at Max Gate on the edge of Dorchester plus the Castle at Corfe and much of the south Purbeck coastline and heathland running down to Poole Harbour.

There are several pubs and restaurants within a 10-15 minute drive and guests can feel free to occasionally choose to bring in a takeaway - just please don't eat it in the bedroom!

West Coombe Farmhouse is open all year round except for a few days over the Christmas period.
