Swanage enjoys a privileged position on the tip of the Isle of Purbeck peninsula in South Dorset, as well as being part of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site. The seaside location, which flourished in the Victorian era, offers you a fantastic chance to take in the sea air. You can also take a walk along the South West Coast Path, visit the Swanage Railway for a steam train ride all the way to Corfe Castle and take a stroll along Swanage Pier during a visit here.

Due to its location so close to the sea, Swanage has some natural coastal attractions that see’s visitors flock to the shoreline every year. The Old Harry Rocks which are surrounded by myth and folklore are found along this stretch of coast as is Studland Beach. The Blue Pool although not strictly on the coastline has formed from a flooded former clay pit and is surrounded by woodlands and pathways.

Swanage has several gardens and parks for leisurely strolls and a lovely main shopping area with some great shops, cafés and restaurants. Enjoy a wonderful dining experience, or instead browse the many shops in search for that perfect memory of your Dorset holiday. A delicious portion of fish and chips on the white sand beach is both a traditional and great way to take in Swanage at the end of a busy day of sightseeing.

Swanage is very popular for water sports, ranging from colourful pedalos to exhilarating windsurfing but if you do not feel quite that energetic then simply hire a deck chair and just listen to the sound of the waves. Also if you book your stay at the right time during the summer, you can watch the exciting Regatta and Carnival, which includes firework displays, live music and much more.

If you fancy exploring a little further, the towns of Poole and Dorchester are both within a half an hour drive. Not forgetting the rest of the extensive Jurassic Coast, which is a stunning area to both see and explore. You can even try your hand at fossil hunting!
